Hello Pumpkin!
Today, I’m excited to share with you a quick and easy way to create a unique and eye-catching background pattern using icons.
For this tutorial, I’ll be using my hand-drawn cooking icons as an example, but you can use any icon pack that you like. Just remember, the best results come when you stick to icons or graphics that share the same style.
Let’s get started:
Begin by selecting the icons you want to use for your pattern. I’ve personally handpicked a few favorites from my cooking icon set. Make sure you’ve picked enough icons to fill your artboard, other wise you’ll have to adjust the size or duplicate some icons to fill the space. Hold [shift] to select multiple elements.
Copy the chosen icons and paste them into a new document of your preferred size. Utilize alignment tools to center them together in one cohesive group. Then, place this group at the center of your artboard.
Make any necessary adjustments to the sizes of the icons to ensure they fit well together.
Here comes the fun part! Start dragging and dropping the icons around to create the pattern. Adjust the spacing between them manually, and don’t hesitate to use the rotation tool to twist the icons as needed. This gives your pattern a more dynamic and balanced appearance.
That’s It!: Voila! Your background pattern is ready. It’s as easy as that.
The best part about this method is its versatility. You can use it with any vector design software you prefer, whether it’s Adobe Illustrator (like I’m using) or even platforms like Canva.
