Discovery

Some time ago I had a chance to create some custom icons for a really nice man that gives guitar lessons in Gibsons – Canada. While it was a fairly small assignment (4 custom icons) the time I spend making discovery, talking with Rob about his business and his goals was great.

To tell you the truth I really like that part. Conversations with people that are passionate about their work is like listening to a great story or reading a good book. It’s also a great learning experience. Rob told me everything about his teaching approach, what value he has to offer to his students and why song based teaching is more fun 😉

Icon design

After gathering all the details about the icons, I made some initial sketches.

Once we decided about the best approach, I finished the project by inking the sketches and then vectorized the icons.

It was a really fun assignment, and you can check out those icons life on Rob’s website. And maybe you live nearby and you always dreamed about playing a guitar? Based on the discovery I have a feeling Rob is a great teacher 🙂

Agata was an absolute pleasure to work with. The quality of her work is exceptional, but in addition to that, she took the time to really learn about the project, provided quick and timely communication, and was very receptive to feedback.
